{"id":686,"date":"2023-07-10T15:16:39","date_gmt":"2023-07-10T19:16:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/angany.com\/?p=686"},"modified":"2023-07-10T20:56:28","modified_gmt":"2023-07-11T00:56:28","slug":"angany-and-the-chum-research-center-partner-to-develop-a-personalized-therapeutic-cancer-vaccine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/angany.com\/angany-and-the-chum-research-center-partner-to-develop-a-personalized-therapeutic-cancer-vaccine\/","title":{"rendered":"Development of a personalized therapeutic cancer vaccine in partnership with the CHUM Research Center"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Montr\u00e9al, QC, <em>July&nbsp;4, 2023.<\/em> Louis-Philippe V\u00e9zina, CEO of ANGANY, and R\u00e9jean Lapointe, principal scientist and head of cancer research at the CHUM Research Centre (CRCHUM), have announced a partnership to develop a next-generation personalized cancer treatment vaccine designed to match each patient\u2019s unique genomic profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The research partnership combines one of ANGANY\u2019s innovations in biotechnology\u2014a vaccine vector originally developed for the treatment of allergies\u2014with advances made by Lapointe and the CRCHUM cancer team in tumour mutanome research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of this partnership is to design a therapeutic vaccine that treats established disease by triggering a personalized immune response against targets on tumour cells that are unique to each patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The challenges of developing this type of vaccine are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Identifying targets from tumour samples once clinical diagnosis has been made<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Producing a personalized vaccine before the patient\u2019s condition worsens<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Lapointe\u2019s highly selective approach to identifying cell targets in the tumour mutanome\u2014targets that are unique to each patient\u2014greatly increases treatment precision, destroying only cancerous cells. ANGANY\u2019s <em>in silico<\/em> molecular design technology can then be used to design a personalized vaccine that produces a robust immune response against the identified targets in a matter of weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>V\u00e9zina and Lapointe are grateful to L\u00e9on&nbsp;Gosselin for his outstanding generosity and leadership. The invaluable support of the Gosselin family foundation has made it possible for Lapointe and his team at the CRCHUM to mount a research program of this size, which will run for 18 to 24&nbsp;months. As an early investor, Mr.&nbsp;Gosselin has also supported ANGANY as it expands its development activities to explore the oncology applications of its technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have always felt that stronger bridges needed to be built between the biotech\/pharma industry and researchers at the cutting edge of their fields in academia,\u201d says V\u00e9zina. \u201cThis is a unique opportunity for ANGANY to work with a world-renowned researcher and to combine his incredible biology-driven approach with the strengths of our <em>e<\/em>Bioparticle\u2122 vector. Significant strides have already been made in passive immunotherapy, in which cancer is treated with large doses of antibodies administered every three to four weeks.
